The Margaret Hanawalt Scholarship Fund
in memory of her sons
Steven Blaas and Dennis Blaas

All scholarships will be given in memory of Steven Blaas, who majored in the field of music, and Dennis Blaas, who majored in the field of art.

Scholarship qualifications/requirements:

  1. All recipients shall be graduates of the Mason City High School.
  2. All receipients must have majored in either the field of music or art. Such students must be either performing or teaching or be directly associated with the history of either art or music.
  3. Scholarships are to be awarded to second-, third- or fourth-year college students who have majored in the field of music and art as above set.

Recipients shall be selected based on:

  1. Ability and talent in their chosen discipline;
  2. Scholastic achievement;
  3. Character and citizenship;
  4. Need, if the above principles are equal; and,
  5. A graduate of Mason City High School
