Allison died at the age of 19 of natural causes on March 16, 2005. Allison wasn't just another teen-age girl, she was extremely well-rounded, motivated and talented. She was a kind-hearted young lady with abundant energy and life. She is deeply missed by her parents, Jean McAleer and David Peters; brother, Andrew Peters; grandmother, Joan Peters; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
As she entered Roosevelt Middle School, she added
volleyball and track to her many activities.
In high school, she continued
her involvements in both athletics and academics. She competed in volleyball and
tennis, lettering both her junior and senior years.
A great source of pride for Allison centered on her
involvement with the Mohawk Danzers. It was truly one of her greatest thrills to
have the honor and privilege of dancing with an outstanding group of of young
women who brought home the school's first ever state championship her senior
year.
Allison was also a strong student as she was on A honor
roll every semester of high school. She was on the CIML All Academic Team
throughout her high school career and was recognized by being in the National
Honor Society her junior and senior years. Other activities and honors included:
sports editor, student senate, Mason City Youth Task Force, Sunrise Rotary
Student of the Month, and MCHS Orchestra.
She was a proud member of the class of 2004 and after
graduation became an Iowa Hawkeye. At the University of Iowa she was pursuing a
career in international business and Spanish. In her only semester, she made the
Dean's List.
The annual $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a
deserving MCHS graduating female who exemplifies balance, roundedness and
participates in athletics and performing arts. Her life should be lived with
much depth, kindness and passion.
